论文摘要:
Objectives The aim of this study was to examine recent trends in exit-site infection (ESI) in our hospital.
Methods We retrospectively investigated incident rates of ESI in 88 consecutive peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients who were treated between January 2007 and October 2016 at our hospital. Six patients who discontinued PD within 1 month were excluded.
Results The incident rate of ESI was 0.61 episodes/patient-year (127 episodes / 207 patient-year). The leading causative organisms were Staphylococcus aureus (n=44, 34%) and Corynebacterium jeikeium (n=30, 23.6%). Age, diabetes mellitus were not risk factors for ESI. The ESI rate decreased from 0.69 episodes/patient-year (102 episodes / 148 patient-year) before 2013 to 0.42 episodes/patient-year (25 episodes / 59 patient-year) after 2014. During this period, a remarkable decline in ESI caused by Staphylococcus aureus was observed (from 0.30 to 0.11 episodes/patient-year, respectively).
Conclusions In our hospital, ESI rate has improved in recent years. A decline in Staphylococcus aureus ESI, possibly due to change in exit-site care method, may have contributed to this improvement.
